Man United approached Brazilian striker on deadline day

Former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato rejected a Deadline Day switch to Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.

Currently plying his trade for Sao Paulo in his native country Brazil, Pato was linked with numerous Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window. Spurs, Sunderland and Arsenal were all linked with signing the player. However, it seems as if Man United approached the Brazilian with a view to signing for the Red Devils on Deadline Day.

Pato said the following:

I won’t lie: two hours before the deadline I had a really good offer from Manchester United.

I was expecting it, but actually only found out about it afterwards.

The Brazilian international is currently owned by Corinthians, and has said that he wants to extend his stay at Sao Paulo:

My focus is here, and I’d love to stay.

These claims are hard to believe, considering an offer for Anthony Martial was accepted prior to Deadline Day. However, they still could be true, with United currently looking short in the striking department. It’s been a while since Pato has played his football in Europe, and I find it hard to believe that we would have taken such a big gamble on him.
