Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is weighing up a move for a Paris-Saint Germain midfielder… and it won’t be a return to Old Trafford for Angel di Maria.
The Dutchman has been rotating Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick, Morgan Schneiderlin and the World Cup-winning Bastian Schweinsteiger in United’s midfield; with the perfect balance still not entirely clear.
The solution in that spot could be a Frenchman by the name of Adrien Rabiot. The 20-year-old has made 16 appearances for the French champions so far this season, spanning Ligue 1, the Champions League, the French cup and the French league cup – and according to the Daily Express, he could soon join fellow countrymen Schneiderlin and Martial in Manchester.
The wavy-haired under-21 international is an exceptionally gifted player, who excels in a deeper role, offering brilliant passing, intercepting and tackling abilities – but crucially also loves to carry the ball out of the midfield with his clever dribbling. He’s a full package in the defensive midfield role and will only get better.
His attitude has been questioned in his time with PSG so far – last season he had an on-the-pitch altercation with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the Swede laughed it off after the game. If he can keep his head screwed on, he’ll have a very bright career – and United could do with some more passion in the side just now anyway!
Arsenal are known suitors of the Frenchman and are thought to have held discussions with his agent (his mother) with regards to a move – so to bring Adrien to Old Trafford would be quite the coup.
