Manchester United have gotten 2016 off to a good start, banishing the memories of a torrid December, where Louis van Gaal was rumoured to be getting the sack after a series of poor results.
Six games played, four wins, a draw and a loss – not bad for a side who have certainly not impressed fans with their performances this season.
Some players put in performances that upped their stock while others had a poor month that would have put their value down.
We’ve picked three of each, and you can tell us whether you agree or disagree with our picks on Twitter – @ReadManUtd!
Up - Wayne Rooney
Six goals to start 2016 for the United captain and he has certainly answered his critics to get his year off to a flyer.
Goals against Swansea, Newcastle United, Sheffield United, Liverpool and Derby have all been crucial to United’s results this month, and there is no reason why United can’t make the top four if this form keeps up for the remainder of the season.
Down - Marouane Fellaini
It remains a mystery to many Untied fans how the Belgian starts every single week.
With Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger out with injuries, Fellaini has started four consecutive games in defensive midfield recently, with minimal effect.
It would be better for all parties if Fellaini were permanently consigned to the bench.
Up - Anthony Martial
The young Frenchman’s stock continues to rise and rise. He has been one of United’s top performers this season, and this month has been no different.
Goals against Swansea and Derby County have contributed to United’s wins, with the performance against the Rams in the FA Cup especially key.
Down - Juan Mata
Despite a goal against Derby in the FA Cup, the Special Juan hasn’t really had a great month.
He only started three times this month – at the start against Swansea and Sheffield United and at the end against Derby – while in between he mostly came off the bench as a substitute to a limited impact.
Up - Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
The Mancunian youngster has certainly proved that he is a capable deputy at left-back, showing a calmness that belies his age.
Started three times (Sheffield United, Southampton and Derby) and has cemented himself as a first-teamer after Ashley Young injured himself at Anfield in the middle of the month.
Down - Ashley Young
The utility man was certainly one of United’s best performers against Swansea and Newcastle, but his value will certainly have gone down as he injured himself against Liverpool, which has ruled him out of action for a very long time, according to Louis van Gaal.
