Louis van Gaal has been called out by Andreas Pereira – because the young playmaker wants more playing time at Manchester United.
The Brazil under-20 international, who has made just four senior appearances for the Red Devils, would like more of a chance to prove himself in the Premier League.
Speaking about his current position and his future [via the Express], Pereira said:
“I’ve been on the bench for all of the games. Hopefully, I’ll be getting more and more chances to show what I can do,”
His last appearance came as a substitute in United’s 3-0 victory over Stoke at Old Trafford earlier this month – and he is yet to make his first start for the senior side, with all of his appearances so far having come as a substitute. However, he is happy at the club:
“I hope I can kick on and get more minutes and show the manager, the crowd and my team-mates what I can do to help the team to win.” “I am very excited. I have to be patient and keep working hard, like I do. I’ll keep going and enjoying my football.”
It’s the right attitude to have – and it will please United fans that the young midfielder is focusing on improvement and working hard to get into the first team, rather than leaving at the first opportunity a la Paul Pogba, who felt he hadn’t been given the appropriate platform to prove himself in the senior side and insisted upon moving away from the club.
United’s next game comes against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday evening – with Pereira in Louis van Gaal’s squad for the European competition.
