It was definitely a topsy-turvy February for Manchester United, but it ended on a high with progress in the FA Cup and Europa League, as well as the Reds closing in on the Premier League top four.

A quality win against Stoke City kickstarted the month before United squandered a lead in the last minute at Chelsea. Losses against Sunderland and Midtjylland followed, and it looked as if Louis van Gaal’s position as manager would come under increasing pressure again.

However, United ended the month with three straight victories, firstly dispatching Shrewsbury Town to advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, before thoroughly dismantling Midtjylland at Old Trafford to advance in the Europa League. Finally, a youthful side beat title-chasing Arsenal to come within three points of Manchester City in fourth.
