Man United linked with move for West Ham star
Manchester United are looking to sign West Ham youngster Reece Oxford, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The 17-year-old, who can play at centre-back or in midfield, has been linked with a move to both Liverpool and Manchester City in recent weeks but it looks like Jose Mourinho wants to take him to Old Trafford.
Oxford has been likened to former West Ham and Man United star Rio Ferdinand by some observers and is apparently available for around £10million.
Oxford burst onto the scene at the start of last season with an assured performance at the Emirates as the Hammers defeated Arsenal, but he only ended up playing 12 games all season.
For most 17-year-olds, that would be seen as a success but Oxford is apparently looking for more first team action.
A move to United might not give him that platform and Mourinho isn’t known for using many young players but the option to sign Oxford and loan him out is certainly plausible.
