United closing in Dortmund midfielder
German journalist Raphael Honigstein has revealed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is close to becoming a Manchester United player.
Twitter: Dortmund have sent an official to Manchester, Mkhitaryan deal nearly done (@honigstein)
The deal is thought to be worth around £30m, £8m more than what Dortmund paid for the midfielder back in 2013 from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 27-year-old has been one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe in his two seasons at Dortmund, which has attracted interest from a number of clubs. However, it appears that United will now be his destination.
New United manager Jose Mourinho is expected to make Zlatan Ibrahimovic his second signing at United after signing Eric Bailly, Mkhitaryan now looks likely to be the third.
The Armenian international scored an impressive 23 goals last season for Dortmund, including 11 in 31 in the Bundesliga. He looks to be an astute signing for United, improving the attacking midfield options considerably.
