Manchester United are believed to be interested in highly-rated Benfica winger Goncalo Guedes, but they could be set to miss out on him.

According to talkSPORT, Valencia are said to be lining up a £22.5m move for the attacker who has been dubbed the ‘new Ronaldo’ after bursting onto the scene in Portugal in recent times.

The 19-year-old forward has established himself as a first-team regular for the Liga NOS champions in the last 18 months or so, making 52 appearances for Benfica where he’s spent his entire career since joining their academy as a schoolboy.

Under contract until 2021, Guedes will not come cheap with Benfica believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £27m to sell him in January, but Valencia will test their resolve with a £22.5m offer when the transfer window opens in just over two months time.

Despite being likened to a young Cristiano Ronaldo, Guedes is quite the prolific goalscorer that the Real Madrid icon is. He has just five career goals to his name despite operating primarily as a second striker who can venture out on either wing.
