United planning £30m Van Dijk move
Manchester United are preparing a £30m January move for Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk, according to The Mirror.
The report claims that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Van Dijk and is eager to bring him to Old Trafford to improve his defence.
United are lining up a move for the defender when the January window opens in just over a month, although Aleksandar Dragovic is also thought to be an option for the Red Devils.
The report says that United would have to fork out at least £30m to make Southampton even consider selling Van Dijk, with the Dutchman having heavily impressed this season.
Van Dijk was Southampton’s player of the season in 2015/16 – winning player’s player and fan’s player of the year awards.
The central defender signed for Southampton from Celtic at the start of the last season for a fee in the region of £12m – with United having to pay far more than that to lure him away from the South Coast.
