Manchester United extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United have taken up the option to extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract an extra year until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The Swede joined United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain on an initial 12-month contract but the deal including an option for the club to extend his contract for a further year – which they have decided to take up.
“He’s happy, he’s committed, he’s loving his life as football player at Man United and it’s the last big challenge of his wonderful career,” Mourinho said at his press conference this afternoon.
“Ibrahimovic’s situation is simple. He has one [year] plus one [year]. We are happy with him. We are going to execute option of second season.”
Since signing, the 35-year-old striker has scored eight goals in 17 appearances across all competitions for the club.
Capped 116 times by Sweden, scoring on 62 occasions, Ibrahimovic has been a world class player at his position for the past decade earning him moves to the likes of Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan in his career.
By extending his contract, Ibrahimovic will be 36 by the time he leaves United but has shown little sign that he’s not capable of producing at this level.
