Roma eyeing January move for Memphis Depay
All signs are pointing to a Memphis Depay exit from Old Trafford in January.
The Dutch winger was left out of Jose Mourinho’s matchday squad for the 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday and is believed to have been deemed surplus to requirements at the club.
With only eight appearances under his belt so far this season totalling just 134 minutes of action, Depay is clearly not considered an integral part of the first-team squad at United and will likely be offloaded in January.
One of the clubs leading the chase for the former PSV winger is AS Roma. The Serie A side are eager to add to their attacking depth in the winter to help boost their bid to win the Scudetto.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma believe Depay is more attainable and represents good value for money and they will focus their attentions on signing him.
What they have in their favour is the fact that the 22-year-old shares the same agent as current Roma stars Kevin Strootman and Thomas Vermaelen which could swing the deal.
Since his £22m move in the summer of 2015, Depay has 56 appearances for United, scoring on just seven occasions.
