Manchester United travel to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, as they try to reverse their recent run of results in the Premier League with three points against Everton.
Having only won just one of their last five games in the league, United travel to Merseyside seventh in the table, a whopping fourteen points off leaders Chelsea and ten points off fourth-placed Manchester City heading into the busy Christmas period.
A win against Ronald Koeman’s side will certainly boost morale further after an encouraging performance in midweek as the Reds comfortably beat West Ham in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, but a defeat will certainly put José Mourinho under further scrutiny.
United will be without captain Wayne Rooney through suspension, while Luke Shaw may also miss the encounter with the Toffees after picking up an injury during the victory against the Hammers on Wednesday. However, there are boosts for Mourinho, with Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini returning from suspension.
Here’s how we think United will line-up against Everton:
GK - David de Gea
No brainer. One of the first names on the teamsheet.
RB - Antonio Valencia
Arguably one of United’s standout players this term.
CB - Phil Jones
Has played five straight games without breaking down and shown good form. Should keep his place.
CB - Marcos Rojo
The Argentine has stepped up in the absence of Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly and will partner Jones in the centre of defence.
LB - Daley Blind
With Shaw injured and Matteo Darmian unconvincing at left-back, the Dutchman should slot back in.
CM - Ander Herrera
United’s resident Spanish midfield terrier should take his place in a two-man midfield.
CM - Paul Pogba
Alongside Herrera should be the returning Frenchman, United’s midfield dynamo.
RM - Henrikh Mkhitaryan
After a stellar outing against the Hammers on Wednesday, the Armenian should start from the off at Goodison Park.
CAM - Juan Mata
With Wayne Rooney suspended, the Spaniard should come back into the fold in his favoured number ten role.
LM - Anthony Martial
The Frenchman looked rejuvenated on Wednesday night, scoring two goals against the Hammers, which should earn him a place in the eleven.
ST - Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Last but not least, Zlatan. The Swede has scored five goals in his last five games in all competitions and will be looking to continue that run on Sunday.
