Twitter Reacts: Al-Habsi howler gifts Rashford goal
Marcus Rashford profited from one of the most ridiculous gaffes from a goalkeeper in recent FA Cup memory when he made it 4-0 to Manchester United at home to Reading, all thanks to an unintended assist from Ali Al-Habsi.
There appeared to be little danger when the Omani keeper took control of the ball in his own area in the 79th minute of the second half at Old Trafford.
However, the former Bolton man decided to invite danger with a completely unnecessary one-two with team-mate Liam Moore, allowing Rashford to pressure the Omani goalkeeper.
Al-Habsi then proceeded to accidentally nudge the ball out of the way of his left foot with his right as he attempted to hoof the ball back downfield. Rashford had a gift, but took zero chances in making sure the ball absolutely crossed the line…

Having smashed it home from a yard out, many United fans watching were reminded of a goal Rashford scored earlier in the season in the EFL Cup against Northampton. Also the beneficiary of a goalkeeping error that night, the Mancunian youngster opted to put his laces through the ball then, as he did on this occasion.
Plenty of comparisons were made with that strike…
