United target Atalanta’s Franck Kessie
Manchester United are interested in signing Ivory Coast international Franck Kessie, who currently plies his trade at Serie A outfit Atalanta.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation for the Italian side this season and has been dubbed ‘the next Yaya Toure’, helping propel Atalanta to fifth in Serie A.
Kessie joined the club in 2015 and spent last season on loan at Cesena in Serie B where he scored four goals.
United splashed the cash in last summer’s transfer window, bringing in the world’s most expensive player Paul Pogba as well as spending £30 million and £26 million on Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan respectively.
Mourinho has already hinted at making a few signings in the summer after the club failed to bolster in January.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Bailly, an international team-mate of Kessie, has told the club to sign the midfielder.
Kessie is a wanted man throughout Europe with Chelsea, Real Madrid, Roma and others all interested in signing the youngster.
With doubts over whether Michael Carrick will agree a new deal with the club, United are on the lookout for strength in depth in midfield and Kessie could provide the answer for the Red Devils who currently sit sixth in the Premier League and play Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup Fifth Round this weekend.
