Manchester United put in one of their best performances of the season, as a tactical masterclass saw the Reds beat Chelsea at Old Trafford, opening up the Premier League title race again.

Few would have expected this result when the line-ups were announced, with United making several changes in anticipation of the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Anderlecht, but José Mourinho’s charges looked fired up from the off and nullified Antonio Conte’s side.

The first goal came early on, as Ander Herrera played a wonderful ball through to Marcus Rashford, who glided towards goal and slotted the ball past Asmir Begovic into the opposite corner of the net.

United carried on their performance throughout the 90 minutes, galvanised by a loud Old Trafford crowd and the clincher came early in the second half, as Herrera turned goalscorer. His powerful strike from just inside the area took a wicked deflection and flew past Begovic – the Spaniard scoring his first Premier League goal in 14 months.
