Atletico Madrid defender and Manchester United target Jose Maria Gimenez has admitted that he would like to test himself in the Premier League, as reported by Spanish outlet AS.

Speaking to Uruguayan TV about his future at Atletico the 22-year-old said:

“I dream of playing in the Premier League because the games are so evenly matched. I would like to go, but if Atletico contract me for life, I’ll stay. I’m privileged to be at the club. I’m calm about transfer rumours and I always discuss them with my representatives.”

Gimenez is desperate for regular first-team football during the upcoming season as he looks to cement his spot in Uruguay’s side ahead of the World Cup in Russia next year.

After a number of impressive performances for Atletico, Gimenez has been linked with moves to Inter Milan and Liverpool, as well as United.

Jose Mourinho was rumoured to be thinking about making a move for the defender in January and at the start of the summer, however, this was before they secured the services of Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
