Roma are trying to negotiate a loan deal for forward Anthony Martial, however, Manchester United are believed to want a permanent move that will earn them in excess £30million for the player, The Mirror reports.

The Serie A side have reportedly already made contact with United over a potential move for the French star.

Roma would prefer to take Martial on a season long loan but the Italian side could go back in with a permanent offer of over £30million as United are unlikely to be interested in letting him go out on a temporary basis.

Martial is believed to be surplus to requirements at United and Roma have some money available after they recently sold Mohamed Salah to Liverpool.

Martial arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 as a 19-year-old from Monaco but looks to have fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

The French striker struggled to hold down a place under Mourinho last season as he scored just eight goals in all competitions.
