According to The Mirror, Jose Mourinho will ask Ed Woodward to make an irresistible £60m bid to Tottenham for their midfielder Eric Dier.
Mourinho has been pressing Woodward all summer to spend money on new signings as they look to improve on a 6th place finish and to go far in their Champions League campaign.
Mourinho is looking to sign a defensive midfielder for the new season as squad depth is needed to succeed on all four fronts which they’ll be competing in next season.
As well as Dier, United have been linked with a move for Chelsea defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic and if Chelsea signs Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, which looks likely, this could pave the way for Matic to join forces with Mourinho again.
Dier has been linked with Manchester United before last summer after the Englishman’s amazing season with Tottenham as they finished third and he was one of the standout performers in England’s disappointing Euro 2016 campaign.
The defensive midfielder can also play at centre-back where he has played many times for Tottenham when either Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderwiereld have been out with injuries or suspensions.
Dier could join Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku as new signings at Old Trafford this summer.
