Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is hoping that he makes the switch to Manchester United this summer, according to the Mirror.
The son of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps and don the famous United strip next season.
David De Gea is currently United’s number one but his future is hanging in the balance given Real Madrid’s fresh interest in him.
Madrid are set to make a £50m offer for the shot-stopper, which could tempt United into making a move for Schmeichel to replace him.
£50m would make De Gea the most expensive goalkeeper of all-time. That record was taken by Jordan Pickford earlier this summer when he moved to Everton from Sunderland for £30m.
With De Gea possibly on his way out, Schmeichel could get his wish and become Jose Mourinho’s first-choice next season.
There is no mention of how much it would cost to prize Schmeichel away from Leicester, though.
