Wolfsburg enquire about loan move for Anthony Martial
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have contacted Manchester United to enquire about the possibility of taking French forward Anthony Martial on loan, according to a report from Kicker (cited by Sport Witness).
The winger has been on the fringes of the starting XI under Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho and has struggled to fight his way into the team due to his underwhelming performances last season.
The 21-year-old was highly rated upon his arrival to Old Trafford and had a decent first season before a total loss of confidence meant that Mourinho used him as a substitute more regularly than as a starter.
The Manchester club’s pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic also shows that Mourinho isn’t confident in Martial and should the Croatian sign, then there will be serious doubt over Martial’s Manchester United future.
Martial managed to get his name on the scoresheet four times in the Premier League last season and also registered six assists in the same competition.
The Frenchman started 18 times in the English top flight last season and United are expected to reject Wolfsburg’s loan enquiry.
