Manchester United certainly made their intentions clear as they kicked off their season at home to West Ham last week.
The returning crowd at Old Trafford were treated to opening weekend ecstasy as Jose Mourinho’s United team flattened the Hammers, with many suggesting that United’s attack looked to have the kind of fluidity and aggression that it did under the charge of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Seeing such a vibrant and exciting Red Devils side is a welcome reality, as the club have previously struggled with scoring goals, especially in the last two seasons.
Goals were not in short supply last weekend though, as United put four past on-loan Manchester City ‘keeper Joe Hart.
A similar result away to Swansea this weekend would be fantastic — another clean sheet would really help maintain the confidence in the squad, whilst it would be great to see Romelu Lukaku add to his two-goal tally so early in the season.
Will Jose Mourinho change a winning team, though? Here’s how we expect United to line up at the Liberty Stadium…
GK: David de Gea
Almost a guaranteed name on the team sheet, as far as league games are concerned.
RB: Antonio Valencia
Another easy choice for Jose Mourinho.
CB: Phil Jones
Victor Lindelof could well be made to wait a while for his Premier League bow, and Jones is ahead of Chris Smalling in the pecking order.
CB: Eric Bailly
Deservedly United’s first choice centre-back.
LB: Daley Blind
Played well against West Ham and was unlucky not to score.
CM: Nemanja Matic
The new boy put in an excellent performance last weekend and can be assured of his spot against Swansea.
CM: Paul Pogba
It was fantastic to see him start the season with a goal — can he grab another against the Swans?
CAM: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
He’s made it known that the ‘number 10’ is his favourite role and his performances are backing that up.
RW: Juan Mata
The Spaniard is a creative genius and complements Mkhitaryan well, as the two can interchange, which is a nightmare for defenders.
ST: Romelu Lukaku
No surprises up front as Romelu Lukaku will be hoping to grab a couple more goals to add to his tally, and make a real early claim for the Golden Boot.
LW: Anthony Martial
It would be no surprise to see the Frenchman rewarded with a start after his goal and assist in a brief cameo against West Ham.
