Gareth Bale admits he considered a summer move to United
Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has admitted that he considered a move to Manchester United this summer but, in the end, opted to stay in Spain.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Bale said he wanted to focus on winning trophies, giving him something to look back on in the future.
Well there’s an argument for that, but I think the main thing, when you look back on your career, is that you look at your trophies. In the end that’s probably the most important thing.
Bale was linked with a move back to the Premier League throughout the summer after a disappointing end to the season in Spain.
Injuries marred the final stages of the season for Bale, who was kept out of the team through the form of Isco.
The Welshman started the Champions League final, in his home country, on the bench and his future looked bleak.
To make matters worse for the former Tottenham man, Real Madrid were also linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe during the transfer window, putting Bale’s future in even more doubt, but the Frenchman opted for Paris Saint-Germain.
