Mourinho wants Rashford and Fellaini to sign new contracts
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is itching to sign Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini up to new deals with the club, according to the Independent.
Miguel Delaney reports that the Portuguese manager is eager to get contracts signed earlier than they technically need to be sorted out, in order to keep key players happy before any potential questions arise over their futures.
Belgian international Fellaini’s contract with United expires at the end of the season, but Mourinho sees him as a crucial player and wants him to extend his stay with the club into his 30’s.
England striker Rashford signed a new contract with the club just last year, but his manager wants to reward his increasingly important role in the squad with a bigger and better contract so as to keep him happy — as he is widely seen as one of the best young players in the world.
Fellaini joined United from Everton in 2013 and has since made 140 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals along the way, as well as winning the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Community Shield — three of which came last season.
Rashford, who turns 20 at the end of October, joined United at seven years old and is now in his third season as a senior player, having scored 24 goals in 80 appearances so far in his Red Devils career.
