United set to offer Mata a new deal
Manchester United are ready to offer Juan Mata a new contract with the club.
According to The Mirror, United are keen to tie Mata down for another season, by activating a clause in his contract.
Mata’s current deal runs out at the end of the season, which would have allowed him to leave on a free transfer.
However, United have an option to extend it by another season, which the report claims they are willing to do.
Ander Herrera will also be out of contract and is in a similar position to Mata. The report claims that United are set to offer Herrera a long-term deal, though, rather than just trigger his one-year extension.
The report claims that Mata has turned down a mega-money move to China in order to prolong his stay with the Red Devils.
An unnamed Chinese side was said to be willing to heavily improve his current wage, but Mata prefers to be playing in the Premier League.
