Benfica youngster and Portugal U17 international Umaro Embalo has been a long standing transfer target for Manchester United.
Embalo’s agent has responded to the talk of this after the plans were put in place for the Benfica player to immediately be put in the United youth setup at Carrington.
Earlier on in the week, it was said that United had tabled a bid worth in the region of £5 million for the 16-year-old, who has been a big interest for a number of teams around Europe so far this season.
The agent of the player, however, completely dismissed any talk of a deal already being agreed in principle, whilst also stating that some conversations have been held in relation to the transfer of the player.
Discussing his client’s future with Portuguese news outlet A Bola, as covered by the MEN, Embalo’s agent said:
Nothing is done, and the conversation, nobody communicated anything to me, nor to the parents. He has interest from several clubs, because he is an asset of Benfica and has gone down this route well.
I can say that all the great clubs in Europe have already asked for information about Umaro, from Germany, England, Spain, France.
The agent later stated that he wasn’t sure on the location of where the player may end up.
If he’s going to Manchester is something that I don’t know at all, but it’s true that we have already met with Benfica and Manchester, there is no agreement, but there are conversations.
He has made a solid start to the season, netting five times in 12 appearances for Benfica, as well as having had an impressive start to life with Portugal U17s. He has already scored 15 times in just his first 18 matches for his nation’s youth side.
The youngster also faced United in the UEFA Youth League match, which United had scouts in attendance for.
