United to reward Ashley Young with £6m contract extension
Ashley Young was once the forgotten man at Manchester United but after he was given a chance in the first-team, he has taken his opportunity to shine with both hands and as such, United are set to reward him with a contract extension.
As reported by The Mirror, Young’s £130,000-a-week deal was set to expire at the end of the current season but United have activated a clause to extend that period by one year, meaning Young will earn over £6million to stay at Old Trafford for another 12 months.
The 32-year-old’s form for his club have seen him force his way back into international contention and he’ll have his eye on a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad for this summer.
His versatility is a huge positive for Jose Mourinho, who has used him in a number of different roles, and Southgate might be tempted to pick him in order to help fill a few needs.
