Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has prioritised the signing of a full-back in the January transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur player Danny Rose being his main target, according to a report on the Independent.
Rose has been linked with a move away from the north London club ever since he made public comments against the club’s wage structure and failure to win silverware.
The defender is also thought to be keen to work under Mourinho and with Luke Shaw struggling to break into the team, leaving the Red Devils needing a new left-back.
Rose wants to win trophies and his desire to do so could see him make the move to Old Trafford, with United challenging on all fronts.
The United manager is keen to add to his attack as well but believes that signing a top quality left-back is the logical thing to do midway through the season.
Englishman Ashley Young has deputised brilliantly in the left-back spot so far this season and Matteo Darmian has also filled in well when needed.
The move for Rose could spell the end for Shaw at United and he could be used in a potential swap deal, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino keen for a reunion with the player that he developed so well during their time together at Southampton.
