United back in for Brazilian starlet, amid Barca interest
Manchester United haven’t given up hope in their pursuit of Brazilian midfielder Arthur, after the player denied that he has agreed to sign for Barcelona, the Mirror report.
Arthur, 21, has a £44 million buy out clause, and has caught the eye of Jose Mourinho over the past six months.
The Brazilian has also attracted interest from fellow European clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, and has recently been for talks with Barcelona, however, no documents were signed and he remains a Gremio player, for now.
When talking to the media in Brazil, the playmaker talked about his future.
We had a meeting but I want to say that there is nothing closed, there is nothing defined. I did not sign anything. We have not started the negotiations. Then, if I sign the contract, I will be a Barcelona player, but this has not happened.
After an impressive start to the season for his club, Arthur, who is a product of Brazil’s famous academy was recently included in the national first team squad for games against Bolivia and Chile.
It seems if Mourinho wants to bring the youngster to Old Trafford, he must act, and quickly.
