Mata has been at Old Trafford since 2014, at the time becoming Manchester United’s record transfer, being signed by David Moyes.
Since, he has been a player that United fans love to love, and has recently come to the world’s attention due to his “Common Goal” charity.
However, although he started this season brightly in the red of Manchester United, being named in the squad for the first 16 games in all competitions, he has since slipped away, not playing in four of the last seven, and hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes this season.
Mata is keen to get more minutes under his belt as he wishes to be part of Spain’s squad in Russia next summer, and José Mourinho is keen to bring Joao Mario to Old Trafford, so has offered Mata to Inter.
Mourinho is said to be a big fan of Mario, as he played a vital role in Euro 2016 where he helped Portugal, Mourinho’s native land, go against the odds and win the tournament in dramatic style.
Both players are midfielders, but Mata is more of an attacking midfielder, with Mario being more defensive in his game. However, with Marouane Fellaini not looking like he will sign a new deal at Old Trafford, Mario may be the ideal replacement for the Belgian.
