De Gea feeling confident about Manchester derby
David De Gea has told Sky Sports that he and Manchester United have confidence going into the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Manchester City will equal a record of 14 Premier League wins in a row, set by Arsenal in 2002, and would break the Premier League record of most consecutive wins in a single season if they were to win at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Manchester United haven’t lost at the Theatre of Dreams for 40 games, a run which De Gea can see continuing.
The last team to beat the Red Devils at Old Trafford was Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the 2-1 loss last season.
Speaking to Thierry Henry ahead of Sunday’s match, the Spanish goalkeeper said:
It’s a derby, we have confidence, we feel really strong and we want to win.
The team is in a good moment, we won two difficult away games so we have confidence and we know we play an important game. We really want to win.
The Reds will be without Paul Pogba after his red card last weekend at Arsenal, as well as Eric Bailly through injury, while City will be without the defensive players of John Stones and Benjamin Mendy.
