Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been out of favour at Manchester United this season and it’s quite evident his time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end.

The Armenian was offered the chance to join Inter Milan on loan, but he and both the club rejected the move.

United are in favour of selling the 28-year-old but suitors aren’t exactly lining up to make him a January addition due to the price being simply too high in conjunction with his wages.

The versatile attacker has been linked with moves away from Old Trafford this season after spending much of the last three months on the sidelines after Mourinho accused the midfielder of disappearing in matches when given the chance this season.

It is hard to understand why Mkhitaryan wouldn’t be in favour of a loan move especially if it is a short-term deal, he will gain first-team football and potentially redeem his career at United should he impress while on loan.

It is believed that he would prefer a move back to former club Borussia Dortmund but they are reluctant to complete a move during the current window.

Dortmund do also have a plethora of options in Mkhitaryan’s position including the highly thought of Christian Pulisic, who has been linked with an Old Trafford switch in the past, so it’s unknown whether he will be the first choice should he return before the end of the current campaign.

Mkhitaryan featured for Manchester United on New Year’s day in their 2-0 win over Everton but again failed to impress.

If the Armenian wants to regain form and kick-start his career he will need to force a move away from United by any means necessary and he should be encouraged to take on a short-term loan in order to do so.
