City set to beat United to Fred’s signature
Manchester United are set to miss out on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, who looks set to join local rivals Manchester City.
The Daily Star claims that Pep Guardiola’s side have stolen the march in the race to sign the player this summer.
Both Manchester clubs have been heavily linked with the Brazilian, who has been impressing both in the Ukrainian league and the Champions League for Shakhtar.
The Brazilian has been valued at £40 million by his current club, a price that would not be a problem for either side to meet.
Paris Saint-Germain had held some interest in the deal but it is now believed that City are leading the way.
Guardiola’s men, who are just weeks away from winning the Premier League title, will want to strengthen whilst they’re on top.
Previous reports had suggested that United themselves were set to beat their rivals and complete a summer deal, however, that no longer appears to be the case.
