Manchester United got over their Champions League exit by securing their place in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
A comfortable 2-0 home victory over Brighton, with goals scored by Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, was enough to see United over the line.
After a tough week for the club, the win comes at a crucial time for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Here is how we rated the players following the FA Cup victory.
Sergio Romero - 7
Did well when called upon and made a brilliant save from defender Lewis Dunk.
Antonio Valencia - 5
The defender was far from his best on Saturday night, but was let off as United kept a clean sheet at home.
Eric Bailly - 6
No flairs from the Ivorian, but he did the job required of him. Evaded danger and limited Brighton’s chances.
Chris Smalling - 7
Impressed at the back and even had a couple of goalscoring chances.
Luke Shaw - 4
Another tough day at the office for Shaw, who was brought off at half time by Mourinho.
Scott McTominay - 5
Pressed and harried through midfield but lacked a bit of creativity.
Nemanja Matic - 8
The Serbian was brilliant in the middle of the park, dominated midfield and assisted Lukaku for the first United goal.
Juan Mata - 5
Mata was unable to make his mark on the game and was later brought off for Rashford.
Jesse Lingard - 5
Brighton managed to contain his threat all too easily in attacking positions.
Antony Martial - 6
Provided a bit more energy in the final third and had flashes of promise.
Romelu Lukaku - 7
Another who was not at his best but the Belgian did find the back of the net to help United over the line.
Subs:
Ashley Young – 6, laid on Matic’s goal brilliantly late on.
Marcus Rashford – 6, just like Martial, provided lots of energy and pace to the United attack.
Marouane Fellaini – N/A, saw out the final few minutes.
