Carrick sits down with Pogba to help mend relationship with Mourinho
Michael Carrick has sat down with Paul Pogba in hope of fixing his Manchester United team-mate’s relationship with Jose Mourinho, according to the Daily Mail.
Mourinho and Pogba’s relationship has broken down over the last couple of months and Carrick has been called-in in an attempt to resolve the pair’s deteriorating relationship.
Mourinho has grown annoyed at Pogba’s inconsistent performances since sealing his world-record move to Old Trafford.
Pogba was substituted off in the second half of United’s defeat to bottom-of-the-table West Brom at the weekend and Mourinho openly criticised the midfielder after the game.
Pogba is increasingly being linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer as a result of his deteriorating relationship with the United boss, just two seasons after sealing his move from Juventus.
Carrick, who is to join United’s coaching staff at the end of the season, has been drafted in to speak to Pogba to prevent this eventuality.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola revealed earlier this month that Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, had offered the club the player back in January.
It is also believed that Raiola has approached PSG over the chances of a summer move for his player who is growing increasingly unhappy in Manchester.
Raiola spoke after Guardiola’s revelation and did not deny offering the player to City.
I never spoke to him. I offer players not to him but to Manchester City, which is a fantastic club with a fantastic manager.
Who I talk about, I will not comment. I leave that to the club’s responsibility and account.
