# A supporter’s view on Louis van Gaal’s progress

Over the past couple of months, we have seen the impact of LvG on Manchester United. From a complete change in formation of the traditional Fergie 4-4-2 to a 3-5-2 system, to the exit of over 16 players within a couple of months of his arrival. All of this leads one to believe that he is here to stay and to prove a point, to create his own new era and to lead one of the biggest teams in the world back to the top of the Premier League.

However, one may also reserve their support for him, by letting him finish this season and have an overview of the overall performance of the club. Concerns are rife among the Manchester United supporters at the lack of wins away from home. Manchester United have failed to secure consistent wins, where dismal performances and lack of “creativity” have been deemed to be the main cause of their problems away from home. One could say this was quite visible during the recent QPR match at Loftus Road, where the fans resorted to chants of “Attack! Attack! Attack” and “4-4-2”. It is quite a well known fact about the doubts that have been raised regarding the loan signing of Radamel Falcao. Sealing his permanent transfer would be of serious concern with regards to his future support by the fans.

Although his statistics are at present worse than his predecessor, it is believed he will restore the glory and success that Manchester United fans all over the world were accustomed to during the Fergie era. Considering the war chest of funds that LVG is supposedly to get in the summer transfer window, one is left to ponder about how much support David Moyes got in his stint at Old Trafford.

What remains to be seen is the performance of the team over the span of the remaining half of the season and their ability to secure a Champions League spot.
