# Anderson set to depart from Old Trafford

There are multiple reports this evening stating that Anderson might finally be moved on after a somewhat underwhelming stay in Manchester. *The Telegraph are reporting* that Brazilian outfit Internacional are potential suitors for the out of favour 26 year old, with a fee of £2.5million being discussed. The January transfer window closes in 4 days and United will be looking to cash in on any interest considering the fact that Anderson only has 6 months remaining on his contract and will be eligible for a free transfer in the summer.

Throughout his career Anderson has made 105 Premier league appearances for Manchester United scoring 5 goals. His most active season being the 07/08 season where he made16 starts and 8 substitute appearances. The midfielder, who cost United £26million from FC Porto in 2007, has been out of favour for a long time at the club and after a loan spell at Fiorentina where he was unimpressive there were reports from sources that his contract would be cancelled but that never happened. Van Gaal obviously does not rate the midfielder and would be keen to offload the player should Internacional push for the deal. Anderson has made just two appearances for United this season and has not featured since August.

With very little chance of him breaking into the team ahead of the likes of Carrick, Blind or Herrera I think it is time to cut ties and move on. Anderson has been one of the players that I personally like due to his spirit and comedic value and I’m sure he will be missed in the dressing room, but that counts for little in the world of football.

Should Anderson leave now or the end of the season I certainly hope he can get into some sort of form for his team and make something of his career and being at the relatively young age of 26 he certainly has the time to push on and impress with the time he has left on the pitch. Anderson has won a lot at United but hasn’t contributed much since his penalty in 07/08, and it’s finally time to say goodbye.
