# Robin van Persie leaves Swansea on crutches

Manchester United will likely be worried this evening, after it emerged that striker Robin Van Persie left the Liberty Stadium on crutches and in a protective boot. The injury seemingly occurred in the latter stages of the game after the manager had already made his three substitutions. The injury no doubt adds even more disappointment to United off the back of a very poor performance and subsequent loss.

The Dutch striker, along with most of the United team, struggled to break down the tactically sound Swansea City defence that saw United leave Wales with no points. The win for Swansea meant that the Swans completed the double over United this season, something the manager will surely need to address as the club are dragged into a real fight for that crucial champions league spot.

Van Persie, so far this season, is Manchester United’s top scorer with 10 goals. There have been many doubters amongst United fans as to whether or not he deserves a place in the team and many fans likely won’t be as worried as the club as it may open up a place for Wayne Rooney to return to his preferred position and start scoring goals.

With Sunderland up next for United at Old Trafford, the manager won’t be rushing Van Persie back into the team, but with our next few games against Newcastle and Arsenal, Van Gaal will be hoping that he will have all players, including Van Persie, fit and firing if the club are laying down a marker as a force to be reckoned with in the race for top 4.
