# Could Gareth Bale be off to Old Trafford?

His form might have picked up when he bagged himself; not one but two goals for his country, during a Group B encounter against Israel only this weekend, but for a player of Gareth Bale’s calibre, this is perhaps the lowest point you will find him in his career. Surely this will see a gap in the market available for Manchester United to swoop. Real Madrid won’t stand for a weak link in their team and if Perez was willing to part with Di Maria then perhaps his Welsh International isn’t such a big ask. Weeks ago, the La Liga outfit may have even gifted what they once considered to be an invaluable asset to Louis van Gaal. Imagine being of such a class that Bale isn’t making the cut… Well, I certainly believe that Real’s number 11 can help us accomplish that and re-establish his form that will leave those in Spain rueing the day they vandalised his vehicle, following a defeat to Barca.

He may be the scapegoat at present but reports suggest Bale isn’t as keen as his admirers across the continent at a move back to England, no matter the size or sentiment of the club. It’s his ‘dream’ to play for the European giants I suppose – and unfortunately I’m not referring to United. Particularly at Old Trafford however, the 25-year-old would fit seamlessly into the regime as it is no secret that attacking options have always taken priority at The Red Devils’ camp. With all the chopping and changing down those wings this campaign (I mean just look at the cosh our defence is coming under, yet we still splash out on forwards), it’s become clear that the gaffer has yet to find that missing piece. It would be refreshing also to see an underperforming ace step foot into the theatre of dreams and prove all wrong, as opposed to the likes of Falcao and Di Maria who have been unconditionally rated until they came to ply their trade with us.

Finally, his crossing ability would mean no more doom and gloom following a defeat as the long ball – maintaining that we are a top Premier League outfit and not a League Two squad who look like they got lost on their way back to the bottom flight – once more consumes all Manchester United forums and his pace, well, what more can I say, he just fits the bill. Speaking of the bill though, it appears with Chelsea sniffing around after catching the scent that Real Madrid were displeased with Bale that it would be a case of who’s pockets are deeper. Will it be third time lucky for Manchester United in their attempts to sign Bale?
