# Beckenbauer feels time is right for Hummels

**Legendary player and manager Franz Beckenbauer has joined the Mats Hummels debate by today claiming that the German international is at the ‘best age’ to move to England.**

Having been intensely linked with a move to Manchester United, Hummels looks set to leave a struggling Borussia Dortmund side who have regularly toyed with the threat of relegation this season.

Beckenbauer’s comments to German newspaper Bild will surely add fuel to the rapidly growing fire that Hummels will join United in another summer of heavy spending. Whilst the former German captain didn’t mention United in his interview with Bild, the supposed interest from Manchester in him is hardly a secret, he clearly feels that the time is right for Hummels to make the move to England.

“At 26, Hummels is at the best age to make the move to England,” he said. “I can understand his thinking well”.

Despite denying that he’d already agreed a move to Old Trafford, Hummels has been linked with a move away from struggling Borussia Dortmund for some time now with Louis van Gaal reportedly very keen to add the defender to his ranks

The potential transfer to United could well intensify over the next few weeks and will be one of the transfer stories to keep an eye on over the summer.
