# Luke Shaw opens up on big money transfer

**After an inspired performance by Luke Shaw against Chelsea over the weekend, Shaw has opened up about his momentous and ambitious move to Manchester United last summer.**

Despite a lacklustre performance in the beginning of the season and a run of injuries, Luke is adamant to finish the season strong in wake of his first start in over a month. Speaking after his involvement against the league leaders at the weekend, he said: “I am positive. It was my first performance for six weeks, so it was great to be back on the pitch.”

“I haven’t been playing and there has been a lot of negative comments about me. It is something that isn’t nice and I’ve tried to ignore it, but hopefully the Chelsea game is the start of me coming back. I am positive. It was my first performance for six weeks, so it was great to be back on the pitch.”

Despite all the mayhem surrounding the youngster and the debate over his ‘fitness’, Shaw seems to have stayed on track to becoming the great player that not only Louis Van Gaal hopes for, but England as well. If anything any criticism he received from Van Gaal regarding his fitness has further motivated and inspired him to greater and better things.

One thing, however, that Luke Shaw was openly disheartened by were comments about his half time substitution in the FA Cup tie against Arsenal, with many claiming his departure during the half time break was due to a lack of fitness.

“I saw a comment the other day saying I was taken off at half-time against Arsenal because I wasn’t fit enough, but that’s not true at all,” he said. “This is coming from me and I know what the manager took me off for and it was not for my fitness because I could have carried on in the game.

“I spoke with the manager about it. I felt my back a little bit and he just wanted to be careful because I am young and hopefully have a long future ahead of me.”

He also put to bed any claims about a possible rough relationship with Louis Van Gaal. “Over the last three weeks, I have learned a lot from him and credit goes to him for trusting me in a big game like this one,” he continued. “He has two sides to him, but he is genuinely a really nice guy and a great manager.”

Luke Shaw has made 18 appearances in all competitions for the  Red Devils this season.
