# Andreas Pereira completes a new three-year deal

**Andreas Pereira has penned a new three-year deal at Manchester United, with the option to extend for a further year.**

The 19-year-old’s future has been questioned repeatedly, with the midfielder initially expected to be looking for the exit door at the Theatre of Dreams. Despite a deal with Dutch outfit PSV looking imminent, the Brazilian-born Belgian has now taken a U turn and opted to develop further with the Red Devils.

Having joined the club in 2011, Pereira developed through the youth ranks and has become of the club’s hottest talents. Earning his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal in August 2014, the youngster is now a nominee for the club’s Under-21 Player of the Year award.

Upon signing his new deal, which will see him remain with the club until the summer of 2018, Pereira said: “I am pleased to have signed my new contract. I would like to thank the manager for giving me the opportunity to join the first-team squad.

“I made my Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur and to play at Old Trafford in front of so many fans was a dream come true. I am at the right club to continue my development as a player and to learn as much as I can. I want to thank my family and God for the opportunity he has given me.”

Manager van Gaal was also pleased to have retained the services of the attacking midfielder, who has scored three goals in 17 appearances in the Under-21 Premier League this season.

“I am delighted that Andreas has signed a new contract,” he added. “Andreas has all the attributes to become an integral part of the first team; great natural talent coupled with a good appetite to learn.

“I am pleased with his progression so far this season and look forward to working with him to develop his talent even further.”

Pereira scored 10 goals in nine appearances for the Belgian Under-16 national team, and has also represented Belgium as an Under-15 and Under-17, as well as the Brazilian Under-20 squad.
