United announce season tickets sold in record time

Manchester United have announced season tickets for the 2015/16 campaign have sold out in club-record time.

The traditional deadline for purchasing or renewing their loyalty at the Theatre of Dreams was bought forward by club officials to May 29, after correctly predicting a surge in demand following the impact of Louis van Gaal in his inaugural season.

As a result, many of those who failed to renew before the cut-off point missed out on their seats, and were called on Monday to be told.

With the Red Devils returning to the Champions League, and once again lining up alongside European’s elite, supporters were desperate to witness all the season, and have done so even quicker than when under the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson – who lifted the prestigious trophy twice.

55,000 season ticket holders have now been promised success by van Gaal, with the Dutchman eager to get the season underway. The manager has also revealed he will continue transfer business and conduct on holiday, to ensure the best for the club.

“I’ll give everything to build a team as champions,” he said. “I want to win titles for the fans.”

Group managing director at Manchester United, Richard Arnold, added: “This year’s sell-out has been achieved in record time.”

After a mixed season of highs and lows for the Red Devils – which saw them dominate a 4-2 victory over their noisy neighbours, while also crashing out the Capital One Cup to League One outfit MK Dons – supporters are optimistic about the following 12 months.

“Demand has been as high as ever, and supporters have responded positively to the move to put season tickets on sale earlier than in previous years,” Arnold continued. “Therefore, we have benefited from the fifth price freeze in the last six seasons.

“We are privileged to have the most loyal fans in the country. They make Old Trafford the unmissable experience that it is and I am sure they will make next season even more passionate and memorable than the one just gone.”
