# Di Maria sustains Copa America injury

Manchester United winger will struggle to materialise teammate in club and country, Marcus Rojo’s vow that the record breaking transfer will live up to his £60m price tag after sustaining an injury in the Copa America final. Whether this will be music to the Red Devils faithfuls ears or another stumbling block in their pre-season plans remains to be seen as his form declined rapidly towards the back end of the campaign that saw many supporters call for his sale.

The international duty allowed the Argentine to live up to his billing as he had not only bagged one assist but two goals in the previous stages of this particular competition. However the wait to see how the 27-year-old has turned into a changed man over the summer will be elongated as he will not only be allowed some time to recover from the additional football he’s partaken in overseas but his injury will keep him out of preliminary training for an extended while.

It was on the 29th minute that three of his Chilean counterparts struck to send him to deck. Although the Reds’ number seven attempted to shake it off, Ezequiel Lavezzi of Paris Saint-Germain took his place. Will it be a repeat of the niggle picked up by the man-in-question at Old Trafford amongst the 3-0 damming of Hull City when donning the United jersey that saw him go from hero to zero? Let’s hope not, for a delayed return within itself will torment Di Maria and only serve to give his critics something to feed off of.
