# Louis Van Gaal Looking to Improve Striking Options

Louis van Gaal has dropped a huge hint that United are in the market for a new striker, according to *BBC Sport*.

With the club deciding against making the loan signing of Radamel Falcao permanent, the departure of Robin van Persie reportedly imminent and Javier Hernandez out injured, van Gaal’s squad are looking short in the striking department.

Harry Kane, Edinson Cavani and Thomas Muller have been among the high-profile names linked with a move to Old Trafford and provide United with more attacking options.

Louis van Gaal has admitted that the club are looking into possible ways of solving the problem but was keen to point out that United won’t buy for the sake of it.

He also feels that in Memphis Depay, who was presented to the media today, can offer another option in the forward roles.

*“It is also one of the reasons that we have bought Memphis because maybe you remember that he has played in the striker’s position also in the Dutch team,”* van Gaal told the media,

*“He is one of the greatest talents of his age. We have to wait and see which position he can give the greatest benefit to the team. He learns very quickly and is full of confidence.”*

The speculation of a new striker arriving in the transfer window will continue to gather pace over the summer. Watch this space.
