# Manchester United on the lookout for dynamic duo

**Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that the Reds are looking to sign players in two positions, in an interview with the club’s in-house channel MUTV.**

The Dutchman has brought in Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin so far this window, but he is still looking for players in two key areas – rumoured to be a centre back and striker.

When asked by Stewart Gardner on whether he expects more players to join the Reds by the end of the transfer window, van Gaal said: “I hope so. No, we are not finished yet, I think.

“It is what I have said already in many press conferences. We need a balance in the selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible.

“But we shall only buy when the player can give a contribution to our level. And, of course, that is in the eyes of our staff, but I have to have confidence that he can cope with the rhythm of the Premier League.”

United have had what would be considered an exceptional transfer window so far, getting rid of deadwood such as Nani and Robin van Persie while bringing in high quality players in Depay, Darmian, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin.

These comments are certainly a signal of intent from van Gaal. With players such as Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi being linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, chief executive Ed Woodward will be tasked with bringing in van Gaal’s targets, and if recent transfer activity is anything to go by, there may be more marquee names stepping foot into the Theatre of Dreams.
