What does the future hold for James Wilson?

What does the future hold for James Wilson?

With a limited amount of strikers at Old Trafford this season, what does the future hold for James Wilson.

James featured in the first team numerous times last season, in particular netting against QPR and Cambridge United. Louis van Gaal must sense that the kid has potential. Given that Wayne Rooney and potentially Javier Hernandez are ahead of him in selection, a loanmove to a fellow Premier League side could benefit him for the better.

Can he break into the first team and hold a starting place?

James Wilson is clearly very talented and has a bright future at Old Trafford, however can he start ahead of Wayne Rooney or Javier Hernandez and hold a starting place? that’s a different story. Depending on form and fitness, Rooney will mostly be ahead of Wilson no matter what, or unless Wilson bags a hat-trick every time he plays, I don’t see him starting games ahead of Rooney, for now.

Should he go on loan?

Sending James Wilson on loan is probably the most sensible way to help his development. A team such as Bournemouth or Watford could use Wilson’s talent to help them survive in the Premier League and also help Wilson’s development. Weather van Gaal thinks he should keep Wilson at Old Trafford for cup competitions or back up, it’s clear to see that Wilson should be sent on loan to help the player progress.

Is he United’s next big thing?

Wilson ticks all the boxes to be United’s next star; fantastic pace, awareness and tricky movement are some of his best attributes. But can Wilson become United’s next big thing? It’s a bit too early to suggest that, however the youngster certainly has shown promise. If James continues to develop well and impress the boss, then James certainly has a bright future at United, but to say he could be United’s next big thing is getting a bit too ahead ourselves.
