# No new movement on the Pedro front

**Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has once again recapitulated his stance on Pedro Rodriguez’s future at the Camp Nou by stating that there is ‘no news’ on the player as he inches closer to a move to Manchester United, according to reports.**

Barcelona and AS Roma will meet in the annual Joan Gamper trophy today at the Camp Nou and speaking to Spanish paper, Mundo Deportivo, Enrique reiterated his desire to see Pedro continue as a Barcelona player.

“Pedro is a player at the highest level. As a Coach I want him to stay,” Enrique said.

“The only way anyone will leave is if they want to leave. As of today there is no news.”

Pedro joined Barcelona as a 17-year-old and has won five La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies, among others since.

Manchester United are reportedly waiting for Angel Di Maria’s move to Paris St Germain to come to conclusion before making a move for the Spaniard.

Manager Louis van Gaal wants to replace Di Maria with a ‘team player’ who can fit into the dynamics of his favoured 4-3-3 formation and few players other than Pedro epitomise the characteristics required to succeed in that role.

The Spain forward has a £22m release clause and the Catalan’s are adamant that they would not afford United any room for negotiations for anything below that figure.
