# De Gea may remain at United

In an astonishing turn of events, it appears that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will **not** be moving to Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish international goalkeeper was all set to join *Los Blancos* but the deal looks to have fallen through in what appears to have been either a malicious act of revenge by Ed Woodward, or a sloppy miscommunication between the two clubs; as the documents required did not reach La Liga’s offices for confirmation before the 23:00 BST Spanish transfer window deadline.

The deal was to be for £15 million plus Keylor Navas of Real Madrid – who agreed to move to Old Trafford to make way for de Gea, but it now appears that both goalkeepers will remain at their current clubs, with a deadline extension **never** having been awarded in a La Liga transfer window.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News, sports journalist Guillem Balague said that the situation is similar to that of Fabio Coentrao’s in 2012 – when the player was minutes away from a move from Madrid to United, but again, the documentation did not reach La Liga on time.
