# Louis Van Gaal confronted by senior players

Louis van Gaal has seen his methods challenged by some of his senior stars according to [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/article4552369.ece), with the confrontation taking place some time ago following a discussion between the players.

They apparently aren’t happy with his training methods, saying they are too “rigid”.

In recent months, [stories](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/louis-van-gaals-treatment-victor-6279392) have emerged (whether they’re true or not is yet to be established) saying that various United players have told counterparts considering a move to Old Trafford to steer clear, in part due to the training sessions put on by the Dutch coach.

He’s now in his second season, and despite the money spent, he’s had a less-than-impressive opening to the campaign, winning twice – both with 1-0 victories – drawing at home to Newcastle and then losing from a winning position at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium prior to the international break.

The Times says that despite his players objecting to the way he runs training, van Gaal hasn’t shown any signs of changing just yet, despite a belief in the squad that if he allows players to demonstrate their skills more freely, things will improve.

The paper also says that players used to the system of Sir Alex Ferguson are still struggling to comprehend van Gaal’s methods, with the Scot a better man-manager than the man now in charge.
