# Wilson signs new deal at United

James Wilson has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United, with an option to extend for a further year.

The 19-year old from Biddulph will remain at Old Trafford until June 2019, and will be looking to break into the first team picture in the next couple of years.

Wilson was happy to sign a new contract with the Reds, saying: “I have been at United since I was seven years old and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far. Growing up at the club has been an incredible experience and I feel it stands me in good stead for continuing my development as a Manchester United player. I am delighted to have signed a new contract and look forward to playing a part in the team for many years to come.”

Manager Louis van Gaal was also happy that Wilson decided to commit his future at Old Trafford. “James is one of the brightest young English prospects and we are delighted he has signed a new contract. He is a very talented forward player and has a keen eye for goal. His development is continuing in the right direction and it is clear to see that he has a fine future ahead of him.”

Wilson hasn’t featured for the Reds this season, and has been linked with a loan move away from the club to gain first-team experience despite United lacking firepower up front. Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marouane Fellaini are the only options that van Gaal has, and many fans have been perplexed that Wilson hasn’t been given an opportunity so far.

However, it is fantastic news that Wilson has decided to commit his future at the club. The England under-21 international is one of the country’s hottest striking prospects, and has already scored four goals for the club since coming through the Academy ranks and making his debut for the Reds against Hull City in April 2014. Hopefully he can fulfil his potential at Old Trafford and become one of United’s deadliest strikers in the future.
